Porch Time Ponderings

November 23, 2016

I haven't posted in a week and there is so much to talk about!!  My putting routine update, the H2O Disc Golf November Yearly was last Sunday, and Thanksgiving is tomorrow!!!

I will start with the most important, Thanksgiving....or as we are calling it this year "Friends"giving.  Me, Mikayla, and my wife have invited 2 couples over (and their 2 year old daughter) to our house for "Friends"giving.  We CAN'T WAIT!  I will be cooking a turkey again, for only the second time in my life, and the first time on a Thanksgiving Day!  Our friends are each bringing a couple dishes, and we have 3-4 dishes planned.  There will also be 4 pies there!!  We are going to be eating for days!!  Food, Friends, Family, Fun...Whether you are having family over, are visitng family, or just getting together with your friends...To me, Thanksgiving is about sharing the day with loved ones, whether they are related to you or not.

Oh!...and how bout that H2O event last Sunday!!  We had 67 players come out!  (the most we had before was 42)  It has been a 30+% growth month-over-month for the last 3 months.  23 out of the 67...

Porch Time Ponderings

November 15, 2016

So....been trying out that putting routine...haven't made it to 30ft yet.  What does that mean?  It means I need more practice...lol.  So I go out in 50-100 putt sessions.  I start at 15ft and use 7 putters.  If I make all 7 in a row, I move to 20ft.  At each 5ft incriment, I have to make all 7 in a row to advance to the next distance.  If I miss 4 out of 7, I have to fall back to the previous distance.  I've tried this routine for 3 days now, and I made it to 25ft, but can't seem to get all 7 in a row made from 25ft, BUT you know darn well I missed 4 out of 7 from 25ft more than once!  Gonna keep it up, though, and will let you know an update.

On a side note, the H2O Yearly is coming up this Sunday!!  This makes me REALLY happy!  Mikayla and I started H2O Disc Golf almost 1 year ago to the day.  I absolutely love running these events and I love it even more that the players love it!  In this world of negativity weighing us down, this group of players comes...

Porch Time Ponderings

Starting to cool off in Florida.  Almost time for sweatshirts, cuz its below 70 degrees...haha.  I know I know, all you peeps from the north are breaking out the shorts again, because it is in the 60s, but anything less than 70 is chilly to me.  This time of year makes the putting practice routine a whole lot easier to maintain, since I don't have to change out of sweaty clothes everytime I want to go outside and practice for 15 minutes.  I've started taking breaks a couple times per day to go outside and toss a few putts.  Usually this turns into about 70-100 putts per day.  Maybe after a month or two, I will be able to actually make those 15 footers that I have been missing during my tournament play at a rate of about 2-3 per round...lol.  I really need to figure out a routine for the putting practice, though.  Currently, I grab 7 putters that are all the same, and I set my baskets 30ft apart.  I toss my putts from one basket to the next, go pick them up, and turn around and repeat.  However, I haven't been practicing those 20 footers, or even...

Porch Time Ponderings

November 8, 2016

Ever since putting in our screened in back porch, I have enjoyed sitting out there most mornings before I start work and enjoying a cup of coffee in silence.  Well, not really silence, but the sounds I hear are not the normal everyday sounds of my day..and the sights are not the normal everyday sights.  As I open the sliding glass door and walk out onto the porch, the sounds of the expressway just beyond the wall bring a strange calming feeling with them.  I know what you are thinking!  Calming traffic NOISE?!  It's actually something I rather enjoy.  The engines rumbling like the sound of a swarming hive of bees working on the day's honey supply, the many different sizes and shapes of tires rolling on the pavement in a rhythmic pattern as if a parade were trudging along and you could feel the drum line slowly making their way to the spot where you picked to sit on the curb, all combining together in a background of "music" that is happening beside me while I sit and drink and think and breathe.  I got a little poetic there, but to me, it's calming.  The sun has now lifted...
